Richard Challoner School was thrilled to be bestowed with not one, but two prestigious accolades at the Borough Sports Awards held at Kingston Guildhall on Monday evening. This is the highest accolade that can be awarded by the borough to children, young people and adults in recognition of their sporting achievements and services to sport, so Challoner were thrilled to win both the Kingston Sports Team of the Year and also Sports Achiever of the Year.
Richard Challoner’s Under 18 (1st XI) Football team were nominated after celebrating a double cup victory during an amazing season last year. They were the proud champions of both the County Cup (Hampton Trophy), beating Wimbledon College 3 – 0 and the London Catholic Schools Cup beating Bishop Challoner School in the final 2 – 1. On top of this, they also won the Surrey Schools League, remaining unbeaten in all their games and losing only one fixture in the National Cup on penalties.
The successes didn’t stop there; Sixth Form Richard Challoner student, Harry Deighton, was awarded Sports Achiever of the Year for his exceptional dedication to alpine ski racing, having represented Great Britain at an international level since the age of 13, the youngest possible selection year.
A fantastic evening, to crown a sporting year with ample highlights, we look forward to competitions during the year ahead.
