Community/Sports Leader Award Levels 2 and 3

Level 2

The course gives students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills in a practical environment, whilst coaching and gaining experience with children of varied ages. The course is assessed via practical leadership opportunities and coursework relating to the theoretical aspects of working with children. The units are titled as below and focus on specific target groups:

  1. Developing leadership skills
  2. Plan, lead and evaluate sport/ physical activity sessions
  3. Assist in planning and leading a sports/ physical activity event
  4. Lead sport/ physical activity sessions linked with the centre* (10 hours)
  5. Lead sport/ physical activity sessions linked with the community* (10 hours)
    *Choice between the two

Level 3

The course gives students the opportunity to refine their existing leadership skills in a practical environment, whilst coaching and gaining experience with children/ adults/ those with disabilities. The course is assessed via practical leadership opportunities and coursework.

The units are titled as below and focus on specific target groups:

  1. Developing leadership skills
  2. Plan, lead and evaluate sport/ physical activity event
  3. Lead safe sport/ physical activity sessions
  4. Plan, lead and evaluate sport/ physical activity sessions linked for children (4-11yr olds, 10 hours)
  5. Plan, lead and evaluate sport/ physical activity sessions in the community * (10 hours)
  6. Plan, lead and evaluate sport/ physical activity sessions linked for disabled people* (10 hours)
  7. Plan, lead and evaluate sport/ physical activity sessions linked for older people * (10hours)
    *Choice of 2 of the 3 Units
