Medicine Summer Experiences

In hospitals and clinics across London

Medicine I Veterinary I Dentistry I Psychology I Forensic Science

Last year was described by medical school heads as the hardest year "in living memory" for UK medical school applicants, with fewer than 16% of applications resulting in an offer. The Medical Schools Council says that it is "essential" for students to get meaningful, real-life experience of medical practice before submitting an application.

Your students can get all the hands-on work experience they need with us this summer, with immersive medical experiences in hospitals and clinics across London alongside doctors, dentists, vets, psychologists and more.

Our Summer Experiences are almost fully-booked and we expect to close registration in the next few days.

View & Register: Ages 12-14

Students who require accommodation will stay at UCL halls, with full meals and guardianship included. Our Summer Experiences qualify as a residential activity for Duke of Edinburgh Gold award purposes.

Year 12 careers cafes

On Monday 4th July 2022 John Harris (Deputy Head of Science, Engineering and Technology at Kingston College who leads L4 and L5 courses in engineering and Schools Partnership Co-Ordinator Richard Fisher from Kingston College and Gareth Burden from National grid came to do our first careers café.

The premise being a relaxed opportunity to hear about sectors of industry and for students to be able to ask questions.

Those that attended found it interesting, but I think the turnout didn’t make for a great start.  Rolling these out next academic years they will be open to years 11,12 and 13 and run once a term.

On Thursday 7th July we had David Anstee (Family Law Solicitor at KWW Solicitors)
Susie Burley (Future Family Law Barrister) come to talk to students about legal careers and Vera Bermingham, speak about admissions hints and tips and what applicants should think about.
Feedback was positive from both and would love to run these sessions again for a wider audience.

Student feedback included:

  • More research into my career
  • Look into volunteering and research projects more in preparation for my UCAS application.

What areas of industry would you like to have a cafe session on?

  • Maths and Computer Science
  • Apprenticeship
  • Biology/science
