Transition to Secondary

Richard Challoner School is proud of its arrangements for secondary transfer for those students who have been identified in primary school as having a Special Educational Need. In May each year, primary schools are asked to identify those pupils who may find secondary transfer difficult or stressful. These pupils are invited to join our Secondary Transfer Afternoons which take place in the second half of the Summer Term. This provides pupils with a number of orientation opportunities, working closely with learning support staff and new students. In addition, pupils are also invited to attend our Learning Support Summer School; this takes place at the end of the Summer holidays.

Parents of Year 5 and Year 6 pupils with Statements are warmly invited to visit the school following their son’s Y5 transition review. Due to the number of requests we receive for school visits, parents will need to make a booking by phoning the school office on 020 8330 5947. All visits take place between 2.00pm – 3.15pm. Visits are specifically aimed towards parents.
